Toshiba Wins Order to Supply 100kW Pure Hydrogen Fuel Cell System Fueled with Hydrogen Produced by Recycling Plastic

Toshiba Corporation has won an order to supply a pure hydrogen fuel cell to Showa Denko K.K., a Tokyo-based chemical company. Hydrogen to fuel the system will be extracted from recycled used plastics by Showa Denko, and the fuel cell will help to meet the energy needs of a new Tokyu REI hotel under construction in Kawasaki, Kanagawa prefecture.

Toshiba Corporation today announced that its first 100kW pure hydrogen fuel cell system has started commercial operation at the municipal wholesale flower and vegetable market in Shunan, Yamaguchi prefecture, the westernmost prefecture of Japan's main island.

​ TOKYO—Toshiba Corporation (TOKYO: 6502) today broke ground on a new Hydrogen Application Center at its Fuchu Complex in western Tokyo. Scheduled to start operation in April 2017, the center will be built around a newly designed H2One™ hydrogen power system that will use renewable energy to produce hydrogen and supply it to fuel-cell powered forklifts operating in Fuchu Complex.
