A 1,811-kilometer expressway is under construction in Vietnam. An ITS package developed by Japanese companies has been adopted along a 55-kilometer section of the expressway. Such state-of-the-art expressway traffic control systems are vitally important social infrastructure for emerging-market countries.

Toshiba Corporation today joined the opening ceremony hosted by Vietnam Expressway Corporation, as a main contractor, in marking the start of operation of a new Traffic Control and Operation Management Office serving a major section of Vietnam’s backbone highway, the North-South Expressway.

Toshiba announced the launch of its customer loyalty and reward management system in all 330 FPT shops operated by FPT group, Vietnam’s leading ICT company. This is the first time that Toshiba’s point system, known in Japan as PointArtist, has been deployed overseas, and will support Toshiba in developing its ICT business, including retail solutions, in the ASEAN market.
Toshiba to Supply Steam Turbine and Generator for Duyen Hai 3 Extension Coal-fired Power Plant in Vietnam

Toshiba has received an order to supply 688MW supercritical steam turbine and generator for Duyen Hai 3 Extension Coal-fired Power Plant in the Duyen Hai district of Tra Vinh Province, Vietnam. The contract was awarded by Japan’s Sumitomo Corporation, the EPC contractor for the project. Toshiba will make delivery in 2016 and the plant will start operationin 2018.
